McAlpineDonnelly was founded as a family investment office of Donald and Sibylle Smith, and their family. McAlpineDonnelly engages in a broad range of investment activities with the flexibility to invest in and manage a wide variety of asset classes.  This Smith family office was established in 2022 as McAlpineDonnelly L.P. McAlpineDonnelly’s mission is to support communities through the dual approach of business investment and philanthropic contribution. 

Throughout North America, McAlpineDonnelly has found areas in which to infuse needed capital to launch, grow, and expand businesses seeking patient, experienced capital and leadership. We have partnered with firms on all points of the development cycle to reach greater levels of performance, develop value creation strategies, and unlock a company’s full potential.  Our private Investment division exclusively manages the capital for the Smith family. Donald M. Smith leads this capital investment execution, utilizing his extensive experience in private and public company executive management.

As a way of contributing to the betterment of our collective futures, McAlpineDonnelly actively engages in volunteerism and philanthropy aimed at youth-centered causes.  In 2021, Sibylle J. Smith established the Sibylle J. Smith Charitable Fund to accelerate opportunities and healthcare access for children growing up in poverty and disadvantaged circumstances.  Through these important efforts, children and their families are supported in the areas of pediatric healthcare, advanced medical research, minority scholarships for higher education, privately funded special needs schooling, youth counseling and psychotherapy, as well as, providing for vital resources such as healthy food, clean water, and renewable energy to our most needy.
